Labrum & impingement
Acetabular labral tears and femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) can cause deep groin pain, clicking or pinching during flexion and rotation.
SPORTS INJURIES · REHABILITATION · TROY
Groin pain, a snapping hip and pain on the outside of the hip may involve different structures. We look at hip mechanics, the spine, strength and activity demands—not just where the pain is felt.

Partial and complete tears, overuse, degeneration and structural changes are not managed the same way. The exam guides what comes next.
Acetabular labral tears and femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) can cause deep groin pain, clicking or pinching during flexion and rotation.
Greater trochanteric pain can reflect gluteus medius/minimus tendinopathy or partial/full-thickness tears, sometimes with weakness or limping.
Hip flexor, adductor/groin and proximal hamstring strains or tendon problems arise with sprinting, kicking and abrupt changes in direction.
Hip osteoarthritis, dysplasia, leg-length or gait differences, and recovery after hip surgery or replacement can affect everyday mobility.
WHY PHYSICAL MEDICINE & REHABILITATION?
PM&R can assess gait, hip strength, range of motion and whether symptoms are coming from the hip joint, tendons, pelvis or referred lumbar pain. A physiatrist helps build an appropriate rehabilitation plan and coordinate imaging, nonsurgical options or orthopedic assessment for structural disease.
